Vadim Vasilyevich Shverubovich was a theatre personality and Distinguished Worker in the Arts of the RSFSR (1948). He was son of V.I. Kachalov. From 1920-1925, he worked in the technical department at MXAT, and from 1932-1959 he served as its head.
From 1926-1930, he was the technical director of the Aleksandrinskiy Theatre, and then, from 1930-1932, of the Maly Theatre Studio. From 1940 until the 1970s, he taught at the School-Studio of MXAT, and was the artistic director of the technical faculty. He is the author of works on theatrical design, as well as the memoirs “On the Old Art Theatre.”
